Snorri Sturluson was a Christian, yet he has done a great service to preserve the Norse faith. Thanks to scholars, I know what Snorri may have added and can filter that out. So far, I feel they handle the subject matter with respect and expose me to authentic traditional tunes I wouldn't find otherwise. As long as I feel this is the case, I can enjoy the music and use it spiritually while respecting their view. I would say I might have a reservation about wearing Mjolnir as just a stage prop.Richard Morrisonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12403422513856104075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2841348142033509263.post-89535780309983935892018-08-29T04:46:29.328-05:002018-08-29T04:46:29.328-05:00@ senatortombstone
Completely agree with you here...@ senatortombstone

Completely agree with you here. I was quite fond of their music until I listened somewhat closer to the lyrics... ouch.

To bad they have so much rage against Christianity, as there music is technically and allover very good.McLambohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14787243177528990834noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2841348142033509263.post-57417376217253083562016-03-16T09:14:29.089-05:002016-03-16T09:14:29.089-05:00This guy spits in the face of those of us who are ...This guy spits in the face of those of us who are heathen. I loved the album Valkyries, but everything else they did was bad, and now Valkyries is less in my eyes. very sad that a person who is touting Norse paganism is also so dismissive of itAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04218805753363573489noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2841348142033509263.post-20170821052545390032015-09-22T22:30:39.852-05:002015-09-22T22:30:39.852-05:00Interesting interview. I am vaguely interested in this band and must admit that though I am a Christian, I take guilty pleasure in their latest album: Valkyra, which is centered around nationalism and mythology and not specifically against religion. I listened to Ragnarok and Lay of the Thyrm, but did not like them. I won't even bother with the overtly anti-Christian album: By the Light of the Northern Star. I just wish that some talented and angry Christian musicians could come out of the woodwork and make metal music about the Christian warriors who fought during the Crusades. Surely, many Christian young men could get into that genre, instead of settling for misguided musicians who needlessly attack their religion.senatortombstonehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02526699349339161838noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2841348142033509263.post-10398305963021780162014-02-28T23:11:01.337-06:002014-02-28T23:11:01.337-06:00I am done supporting this band! I don't care that he doesn't literally believe, but the religion is more about ancestor reverence. He's a poser, and the fact that he just churns out this religious stuff only to sell makes me sick. I would punch him if he were here.

P.S I heard Johan Hegg has punched him. Tool. So basically, he'll adopt Norse imagery, myth, etc. but then says it's pretty much BS to him anyway? That's like Amy Grant firing up the crack pipe and getting into an orgy minutes after singing about Jesus to her fans. The amount of your knowledge in that matter - music theory, nordic mythis and Henri's background - is impressive. Thanks for the great effort you put into it!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05730576421008340273noreply@blogger.com
